Fiona bemutatkozása

Coming from a multicultural background, I naturally have a lot of empathy for the learner of English a second language. I grew up in Ireland and am half Italian and have lived in Hungary for several years. I know what it's like to struggle with a second language and to to be frustrated with less than helpful teaching methods! That's why I make my lessons as student centred and tailored to your interests and goals as possible. Personalised learning with me means that we work together collaboratively to develop your language skills, doing a variety of exercise types and cutting edge eucational materials with progress tracked along the way using my proven system. My interests include literature, cinema, art, dance, yoga, nature, vegan food and thrift shopping. I live in Budapest with my husband and our rescue dog, Lester.

With 4 years of online English teaching and over 1,000 lessons lessons conducted, I specialize in conversational English that actually sounds natural. My multicultural background - born in Rome, raised in Dublin, now living in Budapest - gives me unique insight into the challenges language learners face.

Teaching Methodology:
I use a customised, communicative, student-centered approach that prioritizes the student's individual interests.

My lessons blend:
️ Task-based learning through authentic materials (films, articles, podcasts) and quality educational materials.
️Encouraging and eliciting you to think and speak in English, so you feel confident in your abilities through steady practice and growth.
️Cultural context to help you understand not just what to say, but when and why.
️Up-to-date content based on your interests and goals.

Subject Expertise:
Conversational English & pronunciation improvement
Business English (email writing, presentation skills, interview prep).
Cultural communication differences. (Irish/British/American English)
Travel English and cultural preparation.
Grammar in context.
Accents and phonemics.

What sets me apart: I've been a language learner myself in multiple countries, so I understand the frustration of textbook English that doesn't work in real life. My students consistently praise my patience, cultural insights, and ability to make complex concepts accessible through engaging conversation and exploring a variety of quality language sources and learning materials.

My lessons are adapted to each learner as an individual. I use a variety of exercises to get you using English as much as possible.

Together, we will explore language as a connected system that shapes our world and not simply random words to memorise.

We will practice inductive learning, eliciting meaning through guided discovery and lexical connections. I will guide you to build your confidence by practicing your logic and existing knowledge to unlock new language.

I will gently point out errors in pronunciation and grammar that can become baked in through repeated use, so you can feel secure that your English will be understood by others. Interested in diving into the mechanics of the sounds of English? We can do that too. I’m flexible and adaptable to what interests you.
